Madagascar, located in Southern Africa, is an island country and it is the 4th largest island in the world. The economy of Madagascar is dependant on agriculture, fishing and forestry. Agricultural products of the country are coffee, vanilla, sugarcane, cloves, cocoa, rice, cassava, beans, bananas and peanuts. It is the largest producer of vanilla in the world. Mineral resources of Madagascar are chromite, coal, salt, graphite, bauxite, quartz, zircon, industrial beryl and garnets and offshore oil. Main industries of the country are meat processing, soap, breweries, tanneries, sugar, textiles, paper, glassware, cement, tourism, automobile assembly plant and petroleum. |
